Reflections on learning to trust the wisdom of the body

The Superbloom

I almost didn’t post this photo.

From this angle, it looks like a lush field of yellow wildflowers. A California superbloom.

But if you zoom out, the picture tells a different story. It wasn’t a superbloom. Not even close. Just one small patch of flowers framed in a way that made it look like something much bigger.

It made me wonder how often we do the same thing with ourselves.

We learn to frame our lives in ways that look convincing. We smile. We keep functioning. We show up.

From the outside, everything appears to be blooming.

Meanwhile, our bodies may be carrying a very different story.

I’ve learned that healing begins when we’re willing to stop pretending everything is fine. When we become honest about what we’re carrying. About what hurts. About what feels heavy. About what our body has been trying to tell us.

The truth isn’t always as pretty as the picture.

But I’ve found it’s a much kinder place to begin.

Because only what’s real can heal.
